Data deletion

• Notes, photos and messages: delete them from the boat in the app.
• Crew and followers: remove them from the boat’s sharing settings, and they lose access straight away.
• Sharing with sisterships or support: turn it off in your privacy settings.
• Data on your phone: sign out of the app, or uninstall it.

Email [email protected] from the address on your account (or the one you applied with) and say what you want deleted, for example:

• your test box application;
• all readings, voyages and the polar for a boat, or those from a range of dates;
• a boat and everything recorded on it;
• everything we hold about you.

Boat data belongs to the boat’s team, so only the team’s owner can ask us to delete it. We may ask you to confirm the request from the app or your account email before we act, so that no one else can delete your data.

• We confirm we have received your request within a few business days.
• We delete the data from our live systems within 30 days and tell you when it is done.
• Copies in our database backups are overwritten within a further 7 days.
• Data still on your Polar is wiped when you reset it, or when we do so if you return it.

We keep only what the law requires or what we need to protect the service:

• Order and payment records for six years, as Canadian tax law requires.
• Activity log entries for up to two years, showing only an anonymous id in place of your name and email.
• Server logs for up to 90 days.
• Data with nothing that identifies you, such as averaged polar figures that no longer include your boat name, crew or position.

Deleted data cannot be recovered, so ask for a copy first if you want one.

If TrimPolar never had an account for you, it holds no data about you beyond any application you sent through this website. Email us and we will delete it.
